So the party invite says 'cocktail attire'.

What is that?!, you wonder? 

Cocktail wear is just about any dress that is typically knee length, semi formal, or night time wear. 

On a scale of fancy-iness, level 1 being pyjamas, and level 10 being a ball gown, cocktail wear falls around a level 7-8.
